Well, it's almost exactly one year since we moved into our wonderful home! And what a fun filled year it has been. I can now say (without making a face) that I love being a stay at home mom. Every day I am grateful that I am home with the kids instead of being out in the work force right now in this very tough economy. David's 5th birthday party was a huge hit! David had an ear to ear grin on his face the whole time. Commodore Mike, Captain Ron and First Mate John did an outstanding job as our resident pirates. We are making progress on the master bath! The shower is framed and ready for tile, the flooring is in, Troy and David are painting and tomorrow we will have a working toilet and sink! I had a "strong dislike" for the light fixture glass, so I found some nice white ones. It's a small thing, but it makes a big difference! The old ones - yechh!

With David's 5th birthday fast approaching, I asked David again, if he wanted me to take the training wheels off his bike. His answer was always no, but yesterday, he said YES! Within minutes that kid was riding on two wheels with NO PROBLEM! And then of course he had to show off and do some tricks!

We found a great new park, just $3 to park and it has a lake, ducks, 5 different play areas and lots of paths and trees with shade...very important. It has several restrooms and nice covered areas you can rent for parties. David loved riding his bike around while I pushed Jayna in the stroller.

The last two days have been mostly painting the kitchen, living and dining rooms and digging up the main drain in the master bath and replacing the old iron pipes with new ABS pipes. The master bath was the last original area to go! Based on finding out that our main drain was completely busted and broken and clogged (ugh!) we realized the rest of the bathroom had to go. As you can see from the green linoleum - the whole bathroom was green before the pink tile! Our bathroom will not be completed when we move in this weekend (OMG!), but will have to be a work in progress

Toilets (2) Front DoorI purchased the carpet today for the kids rooms - nothing deluxe needed there, so we found a steal at 98cents per sq.ft. The color is English Toffee! (It's in keeping with our food theme...the paint color throughout the house is Oat Cake and the accent/baseboard is Angel Food!)I also bought a very nice ceiling fan by Hunter with fancy remote! When the kids and I showed up on Thursday we found that the entire wall in David's room had been torn out! This was the room with the most visible water damage, the paint/wall was saggy and rippled and once they realized they had to tear it out, they found very wet wood and drywall and MOLD!
